GTA 6 Stock: Can You Invest in GTA 6, and How It Moves TTWO
Published · GTA 6 Insider
There is no "GTA 6 stock" or Rockstar Games stock you can buy. Rockstar is owned by Take-Two Interactive, which trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker TTWO. That makes Take-Two the only publicly traded company directly tied to GTA 6, and its share price has moved sharply with every GTA 6 announcement and delay.
This page explains how GTA 6 connects to Take-Two's stock, what the company expects from the launch, and the dates that matter. It is general information, not investment advice.
Can You Buy GTA 6 Stock?
Not directly. Rockstar Games is a label inside Take-Two Interactive, not a separately listed company, and individual games are not traded. The only way to get public-market exposure to GTA 6 is to buy Take-Two shares (TTWO).
Remember that TTWO covers all of Take-Two's business, not just Rockstar. The company also owns 2K, publisher of NBA 2K, Borderlands and Civilization, and Zynga, a large mobile games maker. GTA 6 will be the biggest single driver of its results in the near term, but it is not the whole company.

How GTA 6 Has Moved Take-Two's Stock
GTA 6 news has been one of the biggest forces on TTWO for years:
- Delays pushed the stock down: shares dropped after both delays, in May 2025 and November 2025, as the expected revenue moved further away.
- Confirmations had mixed effects: shares rallied when Take-Two repeated the November 19 date in May 2026 and hit an all-time high in July, after pre-orders opened, but they fell after the August results even though the date held, because the quarter's forecast came in below analyst hopes.
- Launch nerves since: the shares have fallen back from that peak through the autumn, as investors weigh expectations against the risk of anything going wrong at launch.
The full history of the date changes is in our GTA 6 delay tracker.
What Take-Two Expects From GTA 6
Take-Two has guided to record net bookings of $8.0 billion to $8.2 billion for its fiscal year ending March 2027, a forecast built around GTA 6 launching on November 19. It repeated that guidance at its August 2026 earnings, when CEO Strauss Zelnick described the early pre-order response as exceptional but did not share a number.
Analysts have published their own launch estimates, ranging from about 25 million copies on day one to Piper Sandler's estimate of more than 45 million at launch. These are forecasts, not company figures. For context, GTA V has sold more than 200 million copies over its lifetime.
Why GTA 6 Matters So Much for TTWO
- Price: at $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, GTA 6 costs more than most new games. Our GTA 6 price guide breaks it down.
- Cost: Rockstar says the budget stayed under $1.5 billion, with estimates above $1 billion, so investors want to see that money returned. See how much GTA 6 cost to make.
- Long tail: GTA V kept earning for more than a decade thanks to GTA Online. A future GTA 6 online mode could do the same, though it has not been announced. See our GTA 6 Online guide.
- More platforms later: a PC version, reported for early 2027 but not confirmed, would add another wave of sales. See GTA 6 PC release.

Risks Around the Launch
Big launches carry risks that markets watch closely: a last-minute delay, technical problems on day one, reviews that fall short of expectations, or sales that land below the highest analyst estimates. On the other side, a smooth launch that beats expectations could push the company's results above guidance. None of this is predictable in advance, which is why the stock often moves sharply around earnings and launch days.
