GTA 6 Price: How Much Each Edition Costs and What You Get
Published · GTA 6 Insider
GTA 6 costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition in the United States. Both prices are the same on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the only two platforms Grand Theft Auto VI launches on when it releases on November 19, 2026. Rockstar Games confirmed the pricing on June 24, 2026, and pre-orders opened the next day.
That $79.99 price is $10 more than the $69.99 most big console releases have cost since 2020, but well below the $100 figure many fans feared. Below is what each edition actually gets you, what the pre-order bonus includes, why the boxed copy has no disc, and what you pay outside the US.
How Much Is GTA 6?
The base game is $79.99. That is the Standard Edition, and it is the full game: the complete story with Jason and Lucia, the whole state of Leonida and everything else Rockstar ships on day one. Nothing in the main game is locked behind the more expensive edition.
The Ultimate Edition is $99.99, or $20 more. The extra money buys a bundle of single-player bonus items such as cars, weapons, outfits and in-game businesses. It does not add story missions, early access or a different version of the game.
US prices are listed before sales tax. Depending on your state, the Standard Edition will cost roughly $80 to $88 at checkout, and the Ultimate Edition roughly $100 to $110.
GTA 6 Price by Edition
| Edition | US price | Format | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $79.99 | Digital, or physical code-in-box | Full game + pre-order bonus (if bought before November 20) |
| Ultimate Edition | $99.99 | Digital only | Full game + pre-order bonus + 16 Ultimate items |
| Ultimate Edition Upgrade | $20 on the Xbox Store (PlayStation price not yet confirmed) | Digital add-on | Turns a Standard copy into the Ultimate Edition |
Those are the only two editions. There is no Deluxe, Gold or Collector's Edition of the game. Early retailer listings that showed three editions turned out to be placeholders, and they disappeared once Rockstar published the real lineup.
What the Standard Edition Includes
The Standard Edition is the complete Grand Theft Auto VI. You get the full single-player story, every location in Vice City and the rest of Leonida, and all the vehicles, weapons, activities and businesses that every player has access to.
If you buy it before November 20, 2026, it also comes with the Vintage Vice City Pack pre-order bonus, covered in detail below. Digital buyers additionally get a free month of GTA+.
The Standard Edition is also the only edition sold in a box. If you want something physical on the shelf, or plan to give the game as a gift, this is the version you will find in stores.
What the Ultimate Edition Adds for $20 More
Rockstar describes the Ultimate Edition as an exclusive collection of items spread across Jason and Lucia's story. Its official editions page lists 16 extras on top of the base game:
| Category | Ultimate Edition items |
|---|---|
| Vehicles | '95 Grotti Cheetah, '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, Shitzu Squalo boat, Ganado Retro Build, Jason's Safehouse Vehicles, Classic Car Collection |
| Weapons | Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers, Personalized Weapon Variants |
| Style | Vice City Style clothing set |
| Shops and businesses | Rideout Customs Mod Shop, One-Eyed Willie's Mod Shop, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305 Clothing Store, Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor, Goodtime Gear, PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store |
Two details matter before you pay for it. First, these are single-player items. Rockstar has not said whether any of them carry over to a future GTA 6 Online. Second, Rockstar has not explained how much each item changes the game. A tattoo parlor or mod shop could be a small cosmetic stop or a meaningful upgrade location, and that will not be clear until people play it.
Is the Ultimate Edition Worth It?
For most players, the Standard Edition is the better buy. The story, the map and the core gameplay are identical in both editions, and the Ultimate items are extras you would otherwise earn or buy with in-game money anyway.
The Ultimate Edition makes more sense in a few specific cases:
- You collect cars: the '95 Cheetah, Dominator Buggy and Classic Car Collection are the headline extras, and the Cheetah in particular is a fan favorite returning from older Vice City games.
- You want a head start: a free set of revolvers, a boat and several shops make the opening hours easier.
- You already decided to buy digitally: the upgrade is only $20, and the Ultimate Edition never comes in a box anyway.
Skip it if you are buying the boxed copy, if you mainly care about the story, or if you would rather wait. You can always add the Ultimate content later with the upgrade, so buying Standard first locks you out of nothing.
Can You Upgrade From Standard to Ultimate Later?
Yes. Rockstar confirmed that Standard Edition owners can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately at any time, including after launch. Physical buyers can use it too, because the box only holds a download code and the game ends up as a normal digital copy on your account.
The Xbox Store lists the upgrade at $20, which matches the gap between the two editions. Rockstar has not announced a single official upgrade price, and the PlayStation Store price has not been confirmed yet, so check your store before buying. Upgrading costs the same as buying Ultimate outright, so there is no penalty for starting with Standard.
When and Where to Pre-Order GTA 6
GTA 6 pre-orders opened at midnight local time on June 25, 2026, and they stay open until the game launches. You can pre-order from:
- PlayStation Store: for PS5, Standard or Ultimate.
- Microsoft Store: for Xbox Series X|S, Standard or Ultimate.
- Rockstar Store: digital codes and the physical Standard Edition, while supplies last.
- Retailers: stores such as Amazon, Best Buy and GameStop sell the physical Standard Edition and digital codes.
How to Pre-Order GTA 6 on PS5 or Xbox
- Open the PlayStation Store on your PS5, or the Microsoft Store on your Xbox Series X|S.
- Search for Grand Theft Auto VI.
- Pick the Standard Edition ($79.99) or the Ultimate Edition ($99.99).
- Confirm the purchase. The game is added to your library, and the pre-order bonus is attached to your account.
- Turn on automatic downloads so the game pre-loads on November 12 without you doing anything.
Buying a code from a retailer works the same way: redeem it on your console's store and it becomes a regular digital pre-order.
GTA 6 Pre-Order Bonuses
Every copy bought before November 20, 2026, in either edition and in digital or boxed form, gets the Vintage Vice City Pack. It includes:
- A '55 Vapid Stanier sedan with a garage to keep it in
- Vintage outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia
- An exclusive weapon pattern
Digital pre-orders also come with one free month of GTA+, Rockstar's paid membership for the current GTA Online. GTA 6 itself has no online mode at launch, as our GTA 6 Online guide explains. Rockstar lists this perk for digital orders only, so boxed buyers should not count on it. The membership renews at the regular monthly price once the free month ends, so cancel before then if you only want the trial. Check the redemption terms on your store, because the deadline to claim it has not been confirmed by Rockstar in one clear place.
Some store listings state the cutoff as 11:59:59 PM on November 19, launch day, rather than November 20. If you want the pack, the safe move is to buy on or before launch day.
Does the Physical Copy of GTA 6 Have a Disc?
No. The boxed GTA 6 contains a download code, not a game disc. Rockstar made this choice so physical buyers can pre-load the game like everyone else, and the box goes on sale on November 12, the same day pre-loading starts.
That has a few practical effects:
- You need an internet connection and free storage: the whole game downloads to your console. See our GTA 6 file size guide for how much space to clear.
- You cannot resell or lend it: once the code is redeemed, the game is tied to your account, the same as a digital purchase.
- A Digital Edition PS5 can play it: since there is no disc, the console's missing disc drive does not matter.
- There is no boxed Ultimate Edition: physical buyers who want the extras buy the upgrade digitally.
The box still makes sense as a gift, or if your retailer has a store discount or reward points that the console stores do not offer.
GTA 6 Price on PS5, Xbox and PC
GTA 6 costs the same on both launch platforms: $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate on PlayStation 5 and on Xbox Series X|S. The PS5 Pro and Xbox Series S run the same versions at the same price. Our GTA 6 on Xbox Series S page covers how the cheaper console handles it.
There is no PC price because there is no PC version yet. Rockstar has not announced one. For reference, GTA V reached PC about 19 months after its console launch, and Red Dead Redemption 2 about a year after. We track the latest signs in our GTA 6 PC release coverage. GTA 6 has also not been announced for PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch 2.
GTA 6 Price in Other Countries
Rockstar set prices market by market rather than converting the US price, so some countries pay noticeably more or less. These are the Standard and Ultimate prices listed when pre-orders opened in June 2026:
| Country / region | Standard | Ultimate |
|---|---|---|
| United States | $79.99 | $99.99 |
| Canada | CA$109.99 | CA$139.99 |
| United Kingdom | £69.99 | £89.99 |
| Eurozone | €79.99 | €99.99 |
| Australia | A$129.95 | A$159.95 |
| India | ₹5,999 | ₹7,499 |
| Japan | ¥9,800 | ¥12,280 |
| Brazil | R$449.90 | R$549.90 |
Store prices can differ slightly between PlayStation and Xbox, and local taxes change the final amount, so treat this table as a guide and confirm the price on your own store. Buy from the store region that matches your console account. A code bought for another region usually will not redeem.
The Vice City Collection Box Is Not a Game Edition
On September 24, 2026, Rockstar opened pre-orders for The Goodtime State: Vice City Collection on the Rockstar Store, reported at $399.99 in the US. Retailers and social posts sometimes call it the GTA 6 Collector's Edition, but it is not one.
The box holds themed merchandise such as a cap, a crossbody bag, a shot glass, a keychain, pins and stickers. It does not include the game, a download code or any in-game items. If you want it, you still need to buy the Standard or Ultimate Edition separately, which brings the total to about $480 or $500 before tax.
Will GTA 6 Get Cheaper?
Do not expect a real discount soon. Rockstar has announced no launch-day price cut, and a brand-new game this big rarely gets one in its first months on sale.
What you may see before or around launch are retailer extras rather than lower prices: store credit, reward points or bundle deals with a console. Those are worth comparing, but the base price of the game itself stays at $79.99.
How to Avoid GTA 6 Price Scams
A $79.99 game that millions of people want is an easy target for scams. A few rules keep you safe:
- Ignore "GTA 6 PC" downloads and keys: there is no PC version, so any PC copy, Steam key or "early access" file is fake or malware.
- Be careful with cheap keys: key-reseller sites can sell codes for the wrong region or codes that get revoked. Official stores and major retailers are the safe choice.
- Nobody sells early access: no edition unlocks before November 19, including the Ultimate Edition.
