GTA 6 Cover Art Explained: The Cover Girl, Panels and Easter Egg
Published · GTA 6 Insider
Rockstar revealed the official GTA 6 cover art on June 18, 2026, with Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval at its center. It uses the classic Grand Theft Auto grid of illustrated panels, surrounded by a helicopter, a motorcycle stunt, a police chase, supporting characters like Boobie Ike and Raul Bautista, and even an alligator. The "GTA 6 cover girl" is Lucia, the game's female lead.
Here is what every part of the cover shows, the series tradition it follows, and where to get it as a wallpaper.
Who Is the GTA 6 Cover Girl?
Lucia Caminos. She shares the center panel with her partner Jason, and in the main image she is the one holding a pistol. That makes her the first woman to lead a modern Grand Theft Auto cover as a playable main character, rather than as a background figure.
That is a change from past games. Earlier GTA covers often featured women only as side images, most famously the woman taking a selfie in a bikini on GTA V's cover. On GTA 6, the woman at the center is the game's protagonist. Read her full story in our Lucia Caminos profile.
What the GTA 6 Cover Shows, Panel by Panel
| Part of the cover | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Center | Lucia and Jason together, Lucia armed with a pistol |
| Top left | A helicopter with a mounted minigun over the skyline |
| Around the duo | A stunt rider launching a motorcycle into the air, and a police cruiser racing below |
| Lower panels | Boobie Ike and other characters from Rockstar's earlier reveals |
| Further down | Raul Bautista with a sports car and a speedboat |
| Wildlife | An alligator, a nod to Leonida's Florida-style swamps |
The mix is deliberate: city crime, police chases, water and wildlife together sum up how much ground the game covers. Our GTA 6 map guide shows the places those panels hint at, and the GTA 6 characters guide covers everyone on it.
The Helicopter Rule: A 25-Year GTA Tradition
Look at the top-left corner. Since Grand Theft Auto III in 2001, Rockstar has put a helicopter in that spot on nearly every GTA cover, and GTA 6 keeps the habit. The only exceptions have been some international GTA III covers, GTA Advance and Chinatown Wars. A motorcycle often appears top right as well, though less consistently.
The grid layout itself is just as old. Rockstar has used the comic-style panel design for the main series since GTA III, and fans would have noticed immediately if GTA 6 had dropped it.
When Was the GTA 6 Cover Revealed?
Rockstar posted the cover on June 18, 2026, together with the news that pre-orders would open on June 25. There was no trailer with it, only a short teaser. On the same day, Rockstar refreshed its website and social accounts with new Vice City artwork, including a new piece showing Lucia and Jason together and an animated Vice City skyline background.
Is the Cover Art on the Physical Box?
Yes. The cover art is the box art for the boxed Standard Edition, which goes on sale on November 12, 2026. Remember that the box holds a download code, not a disc. Our GTA 6 price and editions guide explains what you get in each version.
Where to Download the GTA 6 Cover as a Wallpaper
Rockstar made the official cover art available as downloadable artwork on the Grand Theft Auto VI website, alongside other wallpapers and character art. Download it from the official site rather than from wallpaper apps, which often carry low-quality copies or unwanted ads.
How the GTA 6 Cover Compares to Past GTA Covers
| Game | Cover style |
|---|---|
| GTA III (2001) | First grid of illustrated panels, helicopter top left |
| GTA: Vice City (2002) | Neon 1980s grid with the Vice City look GTA 6 now revisits |
| GTA V (2013) | Grid around three protagonists and the famous selfie panel |
| GTA VI (2026) | Grid built around a couple, with the female lead at the center |
