Who Is the Main Character in GTA 6?
There are two, and they are meant to be played as a pair. Unlike GTA V's three separate leads, Jason and Lucia are a couple, and the story follows them working together after a simple score goes wrong and pulls them into a conspiracy across Leonida.
Lucia is the first female lead in a main Grand Theft Auto game since the top-down games of the 1990s. The first trailer opens with her in a Leonida prison, and Rockstar's profile says her father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk.
Jason grew up around grifters and crooks, spent time in the Army, and is now working for drug runners in the Keys while hoping for an easier life. Rockstar's tagline for him sums it up: he wants an easy life, but things keep getting harder.
Jason and Lucia's Relationship
Rockstar frames GTA 6 as a crime story about trust as much as heists. Jason and Lucia are partners in crime and in life, and the trailers lean on that bond, from robbing stores together to relying on each other when a job collapses. Rockstar built companion AI so the two can act together during missions, which is one reason the game took so long to make.
The Supporting Cast and How They Connect
The supporting characters form two groups that the story ties together:
- The Keys crowd: Brian Heder gives Jason a place to live and work at his boatyard, in return for help with his smuggling, and Cal Hampton is Jason's friend from that world, a man who believes everything he reads online.
- The Vice City music scene: Boobie Ike owns a record label among his many businesses; Dre'Quan Priest works there and is pushing Real Dimez, the duo of Bae-Luxe and Roxy, who went viral before their music took off.
- The big jobs: Raul Bautista, an experienced bank robber, is the kind of contact who turns small-time crime into major heists. See our guide to robberies in GTA 6.
GTA 6 Voice Actors and Cast
Rockstar has not officially named the voice cast for GTA 6. That is normal for Rockstar, which usually lets the full credits speak for themselves at launch.
- Lucia: actress Manni L. Perez is the most widely reported name, but Rockstar has not confirmed it. Social accounts claiming to be her have been flagged as possibly fake.
- Jason: no confirmed actor. Names circulating online are fan guesses based on appearance.
- Stephen Root: the veteran actor said in an Associated Press interview in September 2026 that he is in GTA 6. Fans link him to Brian Heder, but his role has not been officially stated.
Expect the full cast to be known once players reach the end credits on November 19. Until then, treat any "confirmed cast list" with caution.
Where the Characters Appear in the Trailers
Trailer 1 focused almost entirely on Lucia, with a brief first look at Jason. Trailer 2 introduced most of the supporting cast, and the Extended Look showed several of them in actual missions, including a meeting with Brian Heder and a getaway with Raul Bautista. Our guide to every GTA 6 trailer breaks down each video.
Lucia, Jason, Boobie Ike and Raul Bautista also appear on the official box art, broken down in our GTA 6 cover art guide.
