Every GTA 6 Trailer So Far, and What Happened to Trailer 3

Published · GTA 6 Insider

Every official GTA 6 trailer from December 2023 to October 2026

Rockstar has released four main GTA 6 videos: Trailer 1 (December 2023), Trailer 2 (May 2025), An Extended Look (August 27, 2026) and the Launch Trailer (October 15, 2026). There is no video officially called "Trailer 3". Fans used that name for the Extended Look, and then for the Launch Trailer, but Rockstar has numbered only the first two.

Here is every official GTA 6 trailer in order, what each one revealed about the game, the music used, and how the view records compare.

Is There a GTA 6 Trailer 3?

Not by that name. Rockstar has never labeled any video "Trailer 3". After Trailer 2, fans expected the next video to carry the number 3, so the label got attached to whatever came next:

  • The Extended Look on August 27, 2026 was widely called Trailer 3, even though it is a 26-minute gameplay showcase rather than a trailer.
  • The Launch Trailer on October 15, 2026 is the closest thing to a third traditional trailer, but Rockstar left it unnumbered.

If you were searching for "GTA 6 Trailer 3", the Launch Trailer is most likely the video you want. Rockstar has not announced any more trailers before the November 19 release.

GTA 6 Trailer 1 (December 2023)

The first trailer arrived on December 4, 2023, US time, about 15 hours ahead of schedule. Rockstar released it early because a low-quality copy had leaked online.

It confirmed what years of rumors had suggested: a return to Vice City in the modern day, inside a larger state called Leonida, Rockstar's version of Florida. It introduced Lucia Caminos, the series' first female lead since the 1990s, starting in a prison interview, and gave a short first look at her partner, Jason Duval. Much of the trailer satirized social media, with viral clips, livestreams and Florida-style chaos.

The music was Tom Petty's "Love Is a Long Road", and the trailer ended with a release target of 2025. That date later slipped twice, as covered in our GTA 6 delay history.

GTA 6 Trailer 2 (May 2025)

Trailer 2 dropped without warning on May 6, 2025, just four days after Rockstar delayed the game to 2026. It was longer, at 2:47, and Rockstar said all of it was captured on a PlayStation 5.

Where Trailer 1 was a mood piece, Trailer 2 told a story. It set up Jason and Lucia as a couple pulled into a criminal conspiracy after a score goes wrong, and it introduced supporting characters such as Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder. Rockstar published dozens of screenshots and character profiles on the same day. The soundtrack was "Hot Together" by The Pointer Sisters.

GTA 6: An Extended Look (August 2026)

On August 27, 2026, Rockstar premiered Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on Netflix at 3 PM ET, then released it free on YouTube and the official site at 9 PM ET. At 26 minutes 48 seconds, it is the longest look at the game so far, and all of it was captured in-game on PS5.

It followed Jason and Lucia through a chain of jobs, including a drug pickup that turns into a gunfight, a meeting with Brian Heder at a rooftop bar, a highway getaway with Raul Bautista, a montage of side activities and a party that becomes a siege. It ended on the November 19, 2026 release date.

We broke the whole video down in our Extended Look gameplay reveal recap, and covered how it did on the streaming service in GTA 6 Netflix views.

GTA 6 Launch Trailer (October 2026)

The Launch Trailer went up on October 15, 2026, at 6 AM PT, five weeks before release. It runs 1:29 and was captured in-game on PS5.

It returns to the core story: Jason and Lucia after an easy score goes wrong, leaning on each other as a conspiracy spreads across Leonida. The bigger surprise was the music. The trailer premiered "Flower in a Hurricane", a new song by the French duo Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It was released as a single and is part of the game's official soundtrack album.

What the Trailers Tell Us About GTA 6

Put together, the four videos confirm a lot about the finished game:

  • Two protagonists: Jason and Lucia are a couple, and the story is built around them working together.
  • Setting: modern-day Vice City plus the rest of Leonida, from the Keys to swamps and rural towns. See the GTA 6 map guide.
  • Satire of the internet age: social media, viral videos and livestreams run through every trailer.
  • Vehicles: classic and modern cars, airboats and aircraft appear across the footage, many of which we cover individually, like the GTA 6 airboat.
  • Real console footage: Rockstar says Trailer 2, the Extended Look and the Launch Trailer were all captured on a standard PS5.

GTA 6 Trailer View Records

GTA 6 trailers broke records twice, but the two numbers measure different things:

  • Trailer 1: more than 93 million YouTube views in its first 24 hours. That set the record for the biggest non-music video debut on YouTube and earned a Guinness World Record for the most-viewed video game trailer in 24 hours.
  • Trailer 2: more than 475 million views across all platforms in 24 hours, which Rockstar called the biggest video launch of all time. On YouTube alone it drew fewer first-day views than Trailer 1.

So Trailer 1 holds the YouTube record, and Trailer 2 holds the all-platform record.

Where to Watch the GTA 6 Trailers

All four videos are free on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and on the Grand Theft Auto VI website. Because the game is rated Mature 17+, YouTube may ask you to sign in to confirm your age. The Extended Look is also available on Netflix for subscribers.

Will There Be Another GTA 6 Trailer Before Release?

Rockstar has not announced one. The Launch Trailer is traditionally the last major video before a Rockstar game ships, so the next big look is likely to be the game itself on November 19. Our GTA 6 release time guide shows when it unlocks where you live.
